Jake Winfrey and Caitlyn Portz obtained a defense verdict on behalf of a local hospital in a medical malpractice lawsuit. The plaintiff was a young woman who experienced a stroke during a cardiac catheterization procedure and claimed that the defendants, including the hospital’s PACU nurses, negligently failed to detect and treat the stroke in a timely fashion. After a five-week trial in King County Superior Court, the jury unanimously agreed that the nurses complied with the standard of care, and returned a unanimous defense verdict in favor of the hospital.
