Scott O’Halloran and Shelly Garzon secured a unanimous defense verdict on behalf of a neurosurgeon in Clark County Superior Court. The plaintiff alleged that the neurosurgeon negligently placed a lumbar drain during CSF‑leak repair surgery, causing conus medullaris syndrome and long‑term impairment of gait and bowel and bladder function. She asked the jury to award millions of dollars in damages. The defense demonstrated that the procedure met the standard of care and that the plaintiff’s condition represented a rare but recognized complication of lumbar drain placement. The jury agreed, returning a unanimous verdict in favor of the neurosurgeon.
