Jennifer Smitrovich and Matthew Halldorson recently obtained a unanimous defense verdict on behalf of a pathologist and pathology group following a three-week civil jury trial in King County Superior Court.  The case involved an allegation that the pathologist, as well as the pathology group, failed to properly sample a surgical specimen and failed the properly diagnose uterine cancer.  The defendants denied that the plaintiff had uterine cancer and contended the diagnosis and work up of the specimen were reasonable and appropriate.  The jury returned a unanimous defense verdict for all defendants, finding that the healthcare providers met the standard of care.  Plaintiff asked for $6 million.
